New Jersey growers may apply!
GrowNYC La Nueva Siembra is a foundations course developed for experienced Spanish-speaking farmers and farm workers who want to build their own farm businesses in the Northeast.
- Who it’s for: Our course is focused on providing business training in Spanish for land-based farm operations who want to grow food, herbs, and flowers for New Yorkers. Our program is primarily focused on serving BIPOC, immigrants, and historically underrepresented communities in farm business ownership. Please note: this course is taught entirely in Spanish and does not provide production agriculture training.
- What you’ll learn: Participants will learn about the foundational components of building a farm business and will apply their learnings through developing concepts for their business. Classes will be taught by subject matter experts and experienced farmer-owners, with dedicated time for peer collaboration.
- Where and when it happens: For accessible community building, our course is a mix of in-person and virtual classes. There will be 13 classes total: nine virtual classes, three in-person classes, and one in-person graduation in New York City or the Hudson Valley. The course begins in April and ends in June, culminating in a presentation of learnings at the course graduation.
- Class size: Our course occurs once a year in Spanish, and admits between five and ten applicants per cohort (our course in English, Farm Beginnings, occurs annually in the winter).
