Urban farming can be tough and rewarding. This page is a place for urban farmers to connect with each other, share information with fellow growers about your experiences in urban ag in New Jersey, raise awareness of event and funding opportunities, and to discuss success tips and best practices.
You are welcome to contribute a post or share a relevant event/funding opportunity, please submit your information. We are always looking to expand the pool of contributors to ensure a diversity of voices sharing their personal experiences and technical expertise.

Rutgers community garden service project supports fresh produce access in New Brunswick
Over Spring Break, Rutgers students and faculty from the RU Engaged project installed 6 new raised garden beds at Unity Square’s community garden on Suydam Street, helping expand access to fresh, healthy produce for New Brunswick residents.

2026 Good Food Bucks Program Applications are Open!
All SNAP-authorized New Jersey Farmers, Farmers Markets, Farm Stands, Mobile Produce Markets, or CSA programs are invited to apply for City Green’s Good Food Bucks program! Partners will receive funding for the Good Food Bucks SNAP nutrition incentive program, up to $10,000 throughout 2026, $500 in outreach and marketing funding, and more! Rolling applications accepted Nov 5, 2025, through April 15, 2026.

USDA 2026 Farm to School Grant Program Applications due December 5, 2025
This grant program is designed to increase the availability of local foods in Child Nutrition Program (CNP) operations and connect students to the sources of their food. Grants can be used to launch new farm to CNP1 programs or expand existing efforts. State agencies, Child Nutrition Program operators, local agencies, agricultural producers, groups of agricultural producers, and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
