Learn how to create attractive, environmentally friendly landscapes using Ornamental Reforestation, a landscape design approach based on natural plant communities that provides multiple environmental benefits in urban and suburban settings.
Ornamental Reforestation combines the benefits of a natural microforest with the appearance of a tidy, manicured yard design. This approach can be used in smaller urban yards and other developed landscapes.
Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Morris County is offering an in-person training and hands-on installation workshop for landscape professionals who want to expand their design and service offerings, land managers, shade tree and environmental commission volunteers, and anyone interested in improving the environmental sustainability of urban and suburban landscapes.
Each session includes a one-hour lecture followed by a two-hour hands-on installation workshop. Participants will learn about Ornamental Reforestation and gain practical experience applying the design approach.
